Are you Missing Something?

I spotted it at the Rustic Market. It was a beautiful 10 piece porcelain Nativity Scene. Each piece was so shiny and it was so much bigger in size than my old little brown one. I bought it, they wrapped it for me and I bought it home.

It was the day after Thanksgiving. I stayed home to decorate my house for Christmas. I unpacked my Nativity Scene. I put the old brown shed with the pieces attached on top of my curio cabinet. This beautiful Nativity Scene was going to go on my kitchen table.I was delighted as I opened each beautiful piece and set it on my kitchen table. When I got to the end, baby Jesus was missing!!!

Friend, are you missing baby Jesus? Are you missing the one who was born of a virgin, died on a cross to pay for your sins, rose from the dead and is now seated on the throne of heaven? Have you ever repented of your sins, asked Jesus to forgive you, put your faith in JESUS (and not on YOUR good deeds) asked Him to be your Lord and Savior and received his gift of eternal life? This is what it means to be born again- to be born spiritually into God’s family.

Maybe you have repented of your sin, put your faith in Jesus and you have been born again but you have wandered far from him? Are you too busy with work, kids, housework, bills, FaceBook, Gmail, Instagram, Christmas shopping and even activities for your church but you have not been spending any time alone with Jesus? Have you been teaching your children and grandchildren that Christmas is about the tree, the presents, the Christmas parties and you have not taught them the importance of keeping Christ in Christmas?

There are 24 chapters in the gospel of Luke. If you start on Dec 1st and read one chapter a day, you will have read about Jesus every day until December 24. Today is December 3rd. We are going to start reading one chapter a day and finish after Christmas.

Well, the nice lady at Rustic Market found another baby Jesus. He is not as shiny and pretty as my other pieces but he will do. This year we will try to remember, Jesus is the reason for the season, and keep Jesus in our home.

Please this year, keep Jesus in your home. Buy gifts for needy children in the name of Jesus. Put money in the Salvation Army can. Bake cookies for the soup kitchen. Buy a couple of blankets for the local homeless shelter. Bake a batch of goodies for your Pastor and his wife, or for the widows at your church for Christmas. Send out Christmas cards with the birth of Jesus pamphlet inside. But most of all- go to a Bible preaching church on Sundays and spend some quiet time alone with Jesus every day. Read one chapter from the book of Luke each day with your children even if you don’t finish on December 25. Talk to Jesus. Listen to his voice. Listen to Christian music. Sing for Jesus.
