When You Are Wounded and Broken

Do you ever wake up in the morning in terrible pain? Sometimes it is physical pain. Other times it is anguish of the soul. It is not a good way to start the day.

About six months ago I tried to run. I hurt my knees. My right knee constantly throbs but I usually ignore it and go for my half hour walk anyway. This morning my knee is hurting terribly. I am in pain. There is no way I can go on my walk this morning. Maybe I will have to wait until this afternoon or tomorrow. My wrist is broken in several places and that is hurting also. It has been hurting and healing for six weeks. I hate waiting.

I will take my ibuprofen and hope that the pain goes away. Too bad there is not a pill we can take to alleviate heartbreak, grief and sorrow. It takes a long time and Jesus to heal our soul when we are hurting. There is no bandage we can put an emotional pain. There is no pill that cures a broken heart. We can take antidepressants, and I do, and I find them very helpful, however they do not cure heartbreak, sorrow and grief.

If you are in pain today, whether physical or mental I suggest you do the following.

Choose acceptance. Stop fighting the things you are powerless to change. Ask God to help you. Pray this prayer:

Go to Google and put in “Bible verse” and any topic that you think you need. You may put in rejection, poverty, sickness, depression, anger, envy, grief, or any other topic . God’s word brings comfort to my soul in a way that nothing else can.

I also suggest you get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. I may not be able to walk this morning but I will definitely be spending time sitting out in the warm air and sunshine. Cloudy gray rainy days make me depressed. Sunny days make me happy.

I care about you dear reader. If you are in need of prayer please leave your name below and I will pray for you. You do not even have to give the reason unless you want to. God loves you so much and I do too.

  1. 2 Corinthians 1:4 says God Comforts us in our suffering so that we may give Comfort to others. I’m sure your sufferings are being used of God to help others. God bless you.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.”
